Working with Giles made me realise firstly that don't assume because you know, that others will do. Having in my CV all the ceramic exhibitions made me think that I don't need to say that I am a ceramicist which was a big mistake to start with. I then realised that by making a statement it is very important to back it up with potential questions that might arise during the interview process and that was another good piece of advice from Giles. During the counselling session Giles gave me the opportunity to see my application from another perspective and from the employer’s point of view, which I wouldn’t have thought about otherwise. Thanks to Giles and his counselling I am a lot more confident when applying for any job in my field and putting into practice what we discussed in order to achieve not just an interview but also starting a new job which I actually did very recently!
I had a consultation with Giles regarding my CV and, very simply, would recommend anyone to have a consultation with him. His comments and advice were all pertinent and the depth of knowledge about this market place was impressive. My CV is now as good as it gets. He also commented on my LinkedIn profile and suggested some very useful Strategies for Job searching which I was not aware of. Money very well spent: Thank you Giles!
Getting my CV together and applying for roles always seemed like a rushed affair that left me feeling I could do this better. In my meeting with Giles we started from the ground up, CV from scratch and how to approach interviews, particularly some elements of my background I didn’t feel 100% confident about. Applications still feel rushed but I’m more confident I’m presenting myself much more effectively. Definitely time well spent.
